I’ve always been scared of darkness. Nevertheless, I love gazing through my window at night. The darkness is both daunting and thrilling, as it hides what I see everyday, and transforms it into an ineffable world of silhouette. This mystical shroud conceals the world's intricacies, blurring the line between dreams and wakefulness. It acts as a gateway to an alternate reality, where fantasy and mythology converge on Earth, unveiling the universe's hidden secrets and true history.

As an immigrant who hasn’t been able to return home for long periods of time, I have missed many moments with my family—both joyful and painful ones. Time moves forward, and what is missed can never be retrieved. Home is no longer visible or tangible, yet it remains vividly alive in my heart and mind. Looking into the darkness feels similar to being far from home. In this obscurity, the daily objects don’t matter anymore, only what lives quietly in my heart comes to light.

I see my paintings as an array of countless dreams that connect me to the subconscious. My imagery emerges from dreams and attentive observation of the natural world, which I treat as vessels for memory, change, and quiet symbolism. I allow fleeting emotions, impressions, and narratives to unfold without resolution, following the rhythm of the painting itself. Each work goes through layers of paint and washes that are added and removed, masking and revealing what lies beneath. This process, like the passage of time, does not preserve a fixed form, but leaves traces, marks, and echoes that accumulate and transform what is already there. Through this layering and erasure, the intangible gradually surfaces between the tangible and the formless, and my myriad experiences coalesce into a singular, amalgamated dream.

To me, each of these paintings is an energy, a love letter unto itself, unfurling a universe that oscillates between reality and imagination, intertwining dreams and memories in vibrant colors and subtle textures. They serve as a consolation for longing, creating a sanctuary where whimsy and introspection dance harmoniously, constructing a world that is both poetic and deeply personal.
